Road renewal on B 85: diversions and construction times at a glance
Federal highway 85 will be closed from August 26, 2024 for a comprehensive road renovation between Bruck in der Oberpfalz and the Schwandorf district border. This measure, which was initiated by the Amberg-Sulzbach State Building Authority, covers a section of around 4.6 kilometers and is divided into two construction phases in order to ensure accessibility of the Mappach district for residents.
The construction work is scheduled to last a total of seven weeks. During this time, federal highway 85 will be completely closed to all traffic. This means drivers must use alternative routes to reach their destinations.
Construction phases and schedule
The first construction phase begins at the “Leitenweg” height in Bruck and extends to just before Mappach, near a bus bay. This section is scheduled to be completed by September 13, 2024. The second construction phase will then start on September 16, 2024 and is expected to last until October 11, 2024.
Extensive diversions will be required for the duration of the construction work. Traffic will be redirected from Bruck via state road 2150 to Nittenau and further along state road 2149 and the B 16 to Altenkreith. In the opposite direction, the redirection is carried out in the same way.
In the first construction phase, a diversion will be set up for residents of Mappach via the district road SAD 14 and the state road 2398. In the second construction phase, Mappach can only be reached from the west, and here too it is advised to use the large diversion to get to Cham.
