News from Amberg-Sulzbach: AS – Your District Magazine” now available!

October 20, 2025 is an important day for the Amberg-Sulzbach district. District Administrator Richard Reisinger presented the first issue of the new glossy magazine “AS – Your District Magazine”. This magazine is created in cooperation with the press office, the regional management of the district and the Wilhelm office in Amberg and is intended to offer citizens valuable insights into the diversity of the region. The publication consists of 44 pages, covering topics such as company profiles, investments in education and health, and leisure and service tips.

The magazine will be sent to decision-makers as a PDF and will be available free of charge in facilities such as the district office and tourist information centers from next week. The title “AS” refers to the district’s license plate and is intended to underline the authenticity and regionality, as everything from the conception to the printing is implemented on site in the Amberg-Sulzbacher Land. As part of the presentation, Reisinger emphasized the new form of communication, which should benefit the district residents.

Content and sections of the magazine

“AS – Your District Magazine” offers a wide range of topics. The categories include “Discover & Experience”, “Economy, Education & Health” and “People & Stories”. Readers can look forward to articles that explore local traditions, such as the meaning of house names, and current trends, such as preserving and fermenting foods. Special events and recreational offerings, including hiking trails and local dining, are also featured.

A highlight of the first edition is the award of Erhard Ströhl as the first “district favorite” for his reading sponsorship initiative, which supports primary school children in reading. Interested district residents can send in their personal “district favorite” by email until January 6, 2026, and a surprise package will be raffled off among those who send it.

Health care and education investments

The new clinic wing of the St. Anna Hospital in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, which was opened to improve health care, plays a central role in the magazine. This opening was supported with an investment volume of 18.7 million euros. In addition to health care, the district is also investing in the renovation and construction of educational facilities, including the vocational school center and the Walter-Höllerer-Realschule. These investments are part of a comprehensive plan to increase the attractiveness and future viability of the region.

The regional development command in Amberg-Sulzbach has been led by a dedicated team from regional management and the mission statement office since the corresponding initiative was initiated in 2018. The aim of this collaboration is to expand the district's strengths and effectively compensate for its weaknesses. Sustainable development should be promoted together with local partners, while the sustainability process is coordinated in order to secure the attractiveness of the region in the long term.

With the introduction of the new magazine and the accompanying initiatives, the Amberg-Sulzbach district is taking an important step into the future by addressing regional issues and actively involving citizens in the development of their environment.
