Kemnath pedals: City cycling for a better climate!
On September 15, 2024, an exciting event will take place in Kemnath that invites citizens to get their bikes out of the basement and get active. Under the motto “City Cycling”, a campaign is being organized as part of the “Fair Week 2024”, which is dedicated to cycling for a better climate. This initiative aims to raise awareness of eco-friendly transportation while promoting the health of participants.
“City cycling” is not only an opportunity to improve your fitness, but also a chance to make new acquaintances and explore the surrounding area on two wheels. The event offers the opportunity to experience the benefits of cycling while making a contribution to climate protection. This year, the city of Kemnath is taking part in this nationwide campaign for the first time, which has mobilized many municipalities in Germany since 2008.
Start and course of the event
The event starts at 1.30 p.m. at the Gesellenhaus in Kemnath, where the e-bikers kick off. At 2 p.m. the racing cyclists, who cover a distance of 50 km, and the recreational sports group with a distance of 35 km follow. For families there is a special 15 km tour that starts at 2:30 p.m. Parents with strollers and children on balance bikes are also welcome to take part in this tour. Participants are scheduled to return at around 4 p.m.
Everyone who lives, works or studies in Kemnath, as well as members of clubs or schools, is called upon to take part in the campaign and collect as many kilometers as possible. Cycling is not only an environmentally friendly means of transport, but also an excellent way to discover the beauty of the region.
