New roundabout opened in Sinzing: full closure lifted!
On October 4, 2025, the full closure of the new roundabout in Sinzing was lifted. This measure marks important progress in the construction work on Bruckdorfer Strasse and State Road 2394. The asphalt surface layer was installed on the public holiday in optimal weather conditions, which led to the new roundabout being reopened to traffic. The full closure had been in place since September 29th and was lifted promptly on the scheduled date in order to improve traffic flow.
The current speed limit of 30 km/h must be observed both in the area of the new roundabout and on the state road to the west of it. Construction work will continue next Monday, with a 2-point traffic light temporarily needed in the area of the long central island, but this will only be set up if necessary.
Construction progress and traffic routing
Construction work on the new roundabout is progressing according to plan. According to Tagesfunk, the last important construction phases have already taken place. The basic structure of the roundabout can be seen, while the retaining wall and the filling to the state road are still in progress. In addition, cable work for various utility companies was successfully completed.
Diversions were clearly signposted in advance during the full closure, with the main diversion route leading via Bahnhofstrasse. The ban on passage was temporarily lifted on Laberstrasse, but one-way traffic continued to apply westbound. The traffic lights at the intersection were also adjusted to optimize traffic flow. However, this led to bottlenecks at certain stops on RVV line 26, which had to be rerouted during construction work.
Costs and overall planning
The total costs of the project amount to over two million euros, with the municipality of Sinzing covering almost half a million euros. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2025.
The ongoing measures are part of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan (BVWP) 2030, which is based on around 2,000 project proposals for the expansion and construction of roads, railways and waterways. According to the information on bvwp-projekte.de, the plan includes a detailed benefit-cost analysis as well as a comprehensive assessment of the projects examined in terms of their necessity and impacts.
The progress of the construction work is regularly documented, and numerous expressions of gratitude have been expressed to the construction company Brendel and the Wöhrmann engineering firm. These efforts reflect the commitment of the Sinzing community and everyone involved to further expand and improve the transport infrastructure.
