New roundabout in Bruckdorfer Straße: construction work starts next week
The city administration has announced that construction work on a new roundabout at Bruckdorfer Straße and Staatsstraße 2394 will begin next week. This measure aims to improve traffic at this junction and increase safety for all road users.
In addition to the roundabout, three left-turn lanes will also be created to optimize traffic flow. A new footpath and cycle path will also be constructed to provide safe passage for pedestrians and cyclists. The existing bus stops will be redesigned to be barrier-free and equipped with waiting shelters, which will increase convenience for users.
Environmentally friendly measures
Construction work begins with clearing work that is necessary to make space for the new traffic routes. This clearing affects the areas south and east of the Black Laber retention basin as well as parts of the row of hedges between the Jakobsiedlung and State Road 2394. In order to minimize the ecological impact of these interventions, the work is being carried out in accordance with an accompanying landscape conservation plan. This means that nature is protected and possible damage is compensated for.
The city has emphasized that all steps will be taken in close cooperation with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Regensburg District Office. After the clearing work, which begins in the 43rd calendar week, the actual construction work will continue until the end of 2025. The city administration is confident that the new measures will lead to a noticeable improvement in the traffic situation in this area.
