Volunteering in focus: Silver Citizens Medal for five committed citizens!

On November 14, 2025, Mayor Josef Schindler awarded the Regenstauf Market Silver Citizens' Medal to five outstanding citizens. The ceremony took place in the festive setting of the Balcony Hall in the Culture and Multi-Generation House. In his speech, Schindler emphasized the enormous importance of volunteer work, which makes a decisive contribution to the common good.

Some of the citizens honored have distinguished themselves through many years of voluntary work in a variety of areas such as politics, justice, social affairs, art and culture, sport, environmental and climate protection as well as in volunteer fire departments.

Dear citizens

• Monika Jobst
  Sie war 18 Jahre lang als Marktgemeinderätin tätig und übernahm beratende Funktionen in Ausschüssen für die CSU-Fraktion. Darüber hinaus engagierte sie sich aktiv im Zweckverband zur Abwasserbeseitigung und ist Vorsitzende des Frauenbundes Bubach am Forst sowie Mitglied im OGV Eitlbrunn.
• Christina Mayer
  Mit 24 Jahren im Marktgemeinderat, war sie Beraterin in verschiedenen Ausschüssen und Mitglied im Stiftungsrat der Dechat-Wiser-Stiftung. Zudem brachte sie 18 Jahre Erfahrung als Kreisrätin mit und hatte 35 Jahre lang das Amt der Schriftführerin bei der SPD-Regenstauf inne. Ihre Engagements erstrecken sich auch auf die Arbeiterwohlfahrt und andere Vereine.
• Barbara (Betty) Stollner
  Ihnen wurde die Auszeichnung für ihre 32-jährige Tätigkeit als 1. Vorsitzende des Tourismusvereins Regental zuteil. Betty Stollner war Initiatorin von wichtigen Aktionen zur Stärkung der lokalen Gastronomie und zur Einführung eines Unterkunftsverzeichnisses.
• Hubert Aicher
  Hubert Aicher engagierte sich im Krankenunterstützungsverein der Maurer und Zimmerer sowie im ASV Regenstauf. Er war 15 Jahre lang 2. Vorsitzender und übernahm später das Amt des 1. Vorsitzenden des ASV. Darüber hinaus gründete er die Firma Aicher Holzbau, die etwa 30 Mitarbeitende beschäftigt.
• Josef Bengler
  Josef Bengler war während seiner 29 Jahre als 1. Kommandant und 6 Jahre als 2. Kommandant der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Grafenwinn aktiv. Zudem war er 12 Jahre Ortssprecher der ehemaligen Gemeinde Grafenwinn. Aufgrund gesundheitlicher Gründe konnte er nicht an der Verleihung teilnehmen.

Among the guests were members of the market town council, the former mayor Siegfried Böhringer as well as the honorary citizen Gerhard Wagner and former recipients of the Citizens' Medal. The event was accompanied musically by the “Canto Passionale” choir. Mayor Schindler thanked the honorees for their valuable commitment, which is greatly appreciated in the community.

Meaning of the Citizen's Medal

The Citizens' Medal is a respected municipal award in Germany and is awarded for special services to the common good. The tradition of the award goes back to the 19th century and has evolved over the years. Cities such as Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Frankfurt am Main have been recognizing citizens for outstanding commitment for several decades.
