Regensburg: First aid courses for mental health start in October
In today's world, mental health problems are widespread and can manifest themselves in many forms. Whether it's feelings of helplessness, loneliness or even aggression, many people often don't know how to help in such situations. To counteract this discomfort, the association “HSN e.V. – Help in Mental Distress” has launched a series of first aid courses that will be offered to the citizens of Regensburg in October 2024.
These courses are specifically designed to give participants the knowledge and security they need to react correctly in crisis situations. The two-hour events not only impart theoretical knowledge, but also promote a better understanding of the challenges that people in emotional distress experience through practical exercises and the exchange of experiences. The participants learn how they can help in specific situations, which gives them more confidence in dealing with those affected.
Insights into the course content
The HSN courses are not just a unique opportunity, but are complemented by a digital learning platform. This platform offers further information on various mental illnesses and their symptoms. This means that participants can deepen their knowledge after the course and better prepare for possible emergencies.
The project is supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Health, Care and Prevention, which underlines the importance and value of this initiative. The aim is to raise awareness of mental illnesses and reduce prejudices. Enabling informed citizens to provide help ensures that people in acute crises are not left alone and receive the necessary support more quickly.
The courses take place at various institutions and counseling centers that deal with mental health. This enables participants to not only find out about the course content, but also about what the respective positions offer. Registration for the courses is now possible via the adult education center of the city of Regensburg. Those interested can either register online at www.vhs-regensburg.de/gesundheit/hsn-kurs or register by phone at (0941) 507-2433.
The adult education center supports the initiative of the “Regensburger Mental Health Action Alliance” and plans to continue to include HSN courses in its program in the future. This shows the city's commitment to actively addressing the issue of mental health and giving citizens the opportunity to educate themselves and get involved.
