Cultural offers in Brennberg

Extraordinary cultural events are always offered in Brennberg. One example is the current exhibition “I dare. God is able: 700 years of Frauenzell church consecration,” which can be seen in the former Benedictine monastery in Frauenzell. This anniversary exhibition shows the eventful history of monastic life over seven centuries and offers insights into the spiritual charisma of monastic objects through delicate monastery work, hand-woven vestments from the 17th century as well as gold-plated chalices and a travel diary from Brother Gastl.

The exhibition is organized by the Friends of the Former Benedictine Monastery Frauenzell e.V. in collaboration with the parish and the community of Brennberg. It is open on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment until September 14, 2025. Admission is free, but access to the exhibition is not wheelchair accessible.

Importance of culture in rural areas

The promotion of culture in cities and communities, especially in rural areas like Brennberg, is of central importance for social and cultural participation. Cultural diversity shapes life in Germany and offers numerous opportunities for active participation. Initiatives on “culture for all” and “culture by all” help ensure that high and broad cultural offerings complement each other and provide new impulses.

Sociocultural institutions, events and networks bring people together and promote the cultural profile of smaller places. Challenges such as the budgetary situation of municipalities and access to cultural offerings must be addressed in order to ensure sustainable cultural exchange and comprehensive participation in cultural events. The importance of cultural education is increasingly recognized, especially for children and young people.
