Water damage in the children's home: Gleissenberg sues in the regional court
The municipality of Gleissenberg is facing a number of challenges that were discussed at the last municipal council meeting. A central topic was water supply, where the purchase of microfiltration modules was on the agenda. These modules, which were originally ordered by CleverFilter Vertriebs-GmbH, do not meet the required national standards as they are only internationally certified. Michael Bierl, an expert in water supply technology, has already initiated the return of the faulty modules and obtained a new offer from Mösslein Technics GmbH. The gross cost of the new filters is around 28,000 euros, and the local council unanimously approved the purchase.
Another point at the meeting was the regulation on the use of the wooden bowling alley in Merano Park. Mayor Wolfgang Daschner informed the council members that the municipal supervisory authority had criticized the existing house and user regulations. It was found that only expenses are listed, but no income, which is problematic in the current budget situation. In order to continue to operate the bowling alley, income must be generated. The revised user regulations, which now include the municipality as a source of income, were also unanimously approved and will soon be published on the official website.
New local and cultural representative
Another important point was the appointment of a local and cultural representative. After the home and culture barn has been completed, it is necessary to name a person who will be responsible for organizing events. Gerhard Geiselhart from Ried has agreed to take on this position. An information event will take place in the town hall on September 24th, at which Geiselhart will present his ideas for an event program. Interested citizens can contact him to submit their suggestions for cultural revitalization.
A serious issue was the lawsuit against the construction company in connection with moisture damage in the “Burgstallwichtel” children's home. Mayor Daschner reported that the municipality has been in a legal dispute since January 2023 that has so far had no result. The appointed law firm has now recommended filing a lawsuit with the regional court, as both the specialist planners and the construction company reject liability. The total damage amounts to around 54,000 euros. The municipality can take this legal step without any risk of its own costs, as the municipal legal protection insurance covers the costs.
Daschner also provided information about the current status of the budget statutes for 2024 and the need to plan investments in water supply and wastewater systems. It is expected that no funding will be available, which poses financial challenges for the community. A meeting with MdL Gerhard Hopp is planned for October 10th to discuss these and other issues.
The municipality has also registered water conservation measures to ensure flood protection. Mayor Daschner plans to negotiate with property owners about the acquisition of waterfront strips in order to make ecological improvements to the stream. The multi-purpose hall will be closed to sports activities from October 16th to 30th due to fire brigade events.
Other topics regarding the use of community facilities were also discussed in a non-public meeting.
