Fiber optic expansion in Sulzbach-Rosenberg: New opportunities until 2026

The funded expansion of Telekom in several parts of the city will be completed by 2026. The districts affected are Forsthof, Grossalbershof, Kleinfalz, Rummersricht, Am Lohgraben, Grottenhof, Sternstein, Kauerhof, Stephansricht, Kempfenhof sub-area, Kroopfersricht, Stifterslohe, Prohof and Siebeneichen as well as some individual addresses. Telekom Deutschland GmbH is carrying out this expansion.

Self-economic expansion in Sulzbach-Rosenberg

Telekom Deutschland GmbH is currently looking for a reliable civil engineering company for its own economic expansion in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. The originally planned start of construction in 2024 has not yet been possible. When asked by the city, Telekom assured that it would continue to push ahead with expansion in the city. A new date for the start of construction is still pending.

Cooperation between DGA and GVG-Glasfibro

Deutsche Giga Access (DGA) agreed to a discussion with the city administration in August 2024. The cooperation between the DGA and GVG-Glasfibro was dissolved in May of this year. GVG-Glasfibro is still planning its own economic expansion in the city, but needs a new cooperation partner. The city administration is not yet aware of whether or when the GVG fiber optic plans will be implemented.

In the case of self-financing expansions, the municipality is only responsible for providing the public transport routes and taking over the supervision and acceptance of the construction work.
