Discover the mill in Kümmersbuch: insights and stories
On September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. the old Kümmersbucher mill will open its doors to interested visitors. The mill, located at Kümmersbuch 7, has a long history that dates back to 1939, when it was taken over by the Karl family. Until 1973 it was operated as a part-time business, meaning that the family had other sources of income. Today the mill is used to generate electricity through hydroelectric power, making it an important part of sustainable energy production in the region.
The well-preserved mill is not normally open to the public, making this visit a special occasion. The Schuller family, who run the mill, will offer an approximately 90-minute tour together with local caretaker Marianne Moosburger. During this tour, participants will not only see the mill itself, but also learn a lot of interesting information about its history and how it works.

Visitors can look forward to a varied event that goes far beyond a simple viewing. In addition to the tour, poems, legends, sayings and even amusing stories and songs about mills are presented. These cultural elements are intended to give visitors a deeper understanding of the importance of the mills in the region and keep the tradition alive.
The event provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about local history and the role of mills in the past. The combination of historical information and entertaining performances makes this visit a unique experience for young and old.
