The garrison town of Oberviechtach had a special visit on September 17, 2024. Ms. Dr. Eva Högl, the defense representative of the German Bundestag, came to the city to exchange ideas with the soldiers from the Grenzland barracks. Their goal was to directly experience and understand the concerns and challenges of the troops.
During her visit, Dr. Högl also with the first mayor Rudolf J. Teplitzky. The discussions were not only about the current sensitivities of the soldiers, but also about the upcoming deployment to Lithuania. Mayor Teplitzky emphasized the importance of the Bundeswehr for the city and the region. "The Bundeswehr is a valuable part of our community. We are committed to ensuring that our soldiers do well," he explained.
An open ear for the soldiers
Ms. Dr. Högl listened attentively as the soldiers described their worries and needs. After the discussions, Mayor Teplitzky thanked Dr. Högl for the constructive exchange. A highlight of the visit was the entry in the Golden Book of the city of Oberviechtach, at which the commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ralf Georgi, was also present. This symbolic act underlined the close connection between the city and the Bundeswehr.
