15th Regensburg Regional Circuit: 2,700 runners celebrate sporting success
The Regensburg district circuit has once again established itself as a highlight in the region's sports calendar. On September 14, 2024, around 2,700 runners gathered to take part in the 15th edition of this popular event. The event attracts not only local sports enthusiasts, but also international participants who take on the challenge of the different stages.
The route stretched over a total of ten stages, with most participants running from Demling to Zeitlarn. The atmosphere was electric and participants were full of energy as they prepared for the challenge. The event was attended by large crowds of spectators who cheered on the runners and celebrated community bonds.
Outstanding performances by the teams
The performances of the relay teams were particularly impressive. The Peppex Sports Team Men @ALL2024 secured first place in the men's relay with a time of 04:35:33.67. In the women's relay, the Armin Wolf running team 2 triumphed with 05:42:22.60, while the Maybeathleten mixed relay team achieved the fastest time with 05:02:42.99. There were also the “Ultras” who completed the entire 76-kilometer route alone, which is a remarkable achievement.
The organizers, led by District Administrator Tanja Schweiger, were enthusiastic about the event. "It was a great honor for us to organize the Regensburg district circuit for the third time. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to its success," she said. The support of around 400 helpers was crucial for the smooth running of the event.
Another highlight was the moderation by Armin Wolf, who has been there since the beginning of the land circuit. Together with DJ Tom Larusso and co-hosts, he ensured a lively atmosphere throughout the entire event, including the awards ceremony in the marquee.
The sponsors, including Krones and BMW, played an essential role in organizing the event. Both companies fielded 27 teams each, which underlined the international participation. Local clubs such as the Brothers of Mercy and the Großberg Ski Club were also well represented, which illustrated the diversity and community spirit of the rural circuit.
There are already plans for next year. The 16th Regensburg district circuit will take place on September 20, 2025 and takes participants to the western Regensburg district, starting in Pettendorf and finishing in Beratzhausen. The anticipation for this event is already palpable and the organizers are keen to continue the tradition and attract even more participants.
The results of the individual teams and runners can be viewed on the official website of the regional circuit. The event remains an integral part of regional sporting life and attracts more people each year who want to experience the joy of running and community.
