New table tennis table in Sinzing: A contribution to the primary school!

On October 28, 2025, the new outdoor table tennis table at the Sinzing elementary school was officially inaugurated. The initiative for this project came largely from the school's parents' council, with the implementation being significantly supported by the generous donation of 4,000 euros from Evelin Schönleber, the managing director of MAC Mode GmbH & Co. KGaA. The total cost of the project was around 6,500 euros.

The municipality of Sinzing also played an important role by redesigning the green area and building the concrete foundation and the running surface around the table tennis table. In addition to Ms. Schönleber, several important personalities were present at the ceremonial handover, including the First Mayor Martin Brix, the Rector Barbara Danzer and members of the support association.

A social occasion

As part of the inauguration of the table tennis table, a self-painted picture of three children was presented as a token of gratitude. The school and the support association thanked Ms. Schönleber for her valuable support. This new equipment will now offer the students at Sinzing Elementary School additional opportunities to practice the sport outdoors and encourage their enthusiasm for table tennis.

In addition to the construction of the table tennis table, there are also positive developments in the field of table tennis from other schools. The students at the Gönser primary school also wanted an additional table tennis table. Their student council actively campaigned to make this wish come true, and the school's support association ultimately made the purchase possible. Since the beginning of last week, a new table tennis table with bats and balls has been available there.

The benefits of table tennis at school

Table tennis is not only a popular sport, but also offers numerous benefits for the school community. A revised brochure entitled “Table Tennis in Primary Schools” was created to promote the introduction of table tennis into everyday school life. This brochure contains 16 newly designed exercise units that are specifically designed for all-day care and group activities. Authors like Silke Sanchez and Norbert Weyers worked on this project based on proven methods.

The brochure also presents innovative warm-up games and practical hall plans in order to offer alternatives even if there is insufficient table availability. In order to further promote commitment, people are asked to submit their own exercise units and creative ideas to the WTTV office. Submitters have the chance to take part in a semi-annual raffle for training balls.

Increasing the availability of table tennis tables and promoting the game of table tennis in schools is an important step towards improving sporting opportunities for children and young people. Projects like those in Sinzing and Gönser show how locally committed actors can have a positive impact.
