NATO maneuver Steadfast Dart 26: Pielenhofen in the focus of the exercise!

The coming weeks will be marked by a massive military exercise that will take place in Germany. FromFebruary 3rd to March 4th, 2026American forces conduct a deployment exercise in several German communities, including Pielenhofen and Wolfsegg. This exercise is not only locally significant, but is part of a broader NATO operation focused on Alliance operational readiness.

Italian General Nicola Mandolesi announced that the first troops have already arrived in Germany. Further parts of the “Allied Reaction Force” are brought to Germany by land and air transport.

The exercise aims to test NATO's defense capability against potential attacks on Alliance territory. A total of people are taking part in the maneuvereleven NATO member countriesinvolved, including Italy, Greece, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Türkiye, France, Belgium and Great Britain. The USA is not taking part in this exercise.

Practice locations and activities

This will be a central training locationBergen military training area in Lower Saxonybe where the largest parts of the maneuver will take place. Activities are also planned on the Baltic Sea coast, including at the Putlos military training area for amphibious landings. Armed forces from the army, air force, navy and space and cyber units are being mobilized, which increases the complexity of the exercise.

NATO is using this opportunity to test its newly established rapid reaction force under the command of the operational headquarters in Brunssum.
