Beratzhausen relies on sustainable heat: six buildings will be gas-free!
On January 29, 2026, the Beratzhausen market and the Laber-Naab water association took significant steps towards sustainable energy supply. Both institutions have signed contracts that regulate the connection to the local heating network of the “Renergiewerke Beratzhausen”. This marks decisive progress in the area of municipal climate protection.
Six municipal properties in Beratzhausen will be integrated into the new heating network: the school, the gym, the youth club with a doctor's office, the Gerhardinger children's home, the town hall and an annex to the town hall. The Laber-Naab water association will also add two of its own buildings, the administration building and the technical center. This is an important step because once the heating network is commissioned, all connected buildings will be operated gas-free.
Technical details and goals
The local heating network is operated by GP Joule and uses modern large heat pumps that run on green electricity. This not only helps reduce CO₂ emissions, but also ensures long-term security of supply. Those responsible expect that by connecting the municipal properties, gas sales in the Beratzhausen local network will be reduced by around 15 percent, which will further strengthen the energy saving initiative.
The contracts were signed by Mayor Matthias Beer, who represents the Beratzhausen market, and Mayor Josef Bauer of the Laber-Naab water association. Both see this project as a role model for future sustainable initiatives and invite citizens to continue to seek advice and to examine a possible connection to the local heating network.
In addition, a contract was signed for the partial connection to the Zehntstadel, which is currently heated by night storage heaters. A study on the possible conversion to a conventional radiator solution is already in progress. The entire project plan envisages the full implementation of the connections in around two years, which enables citizens to plan reliably.
The municipality's decision is not only a step into the future, but also sends a strong signal for sustainable energy and climate protection in the region. In the future, it is expected that the almost complete elimination of CO₂ costs will ensure stable prices for consumers.
