Pre-Christmas joy: chocolate surprise for those who park properly in Barbing

The days before Christmas are often hectic. Christmas markets, gift shopping and the final preparations for the festival ensure a lot of activity. Finding a parking space can therefore take longer. Anyone who follows the traffic rules despite the hustle and bustle usually doesn't receive any special recognition. Things are different in the municipalities where the Upper Palatinate Municipal Traffic Safety Association (ZV KVS Oberpfalz) is responsible for parking space monitoring. Here, those who park correctly are rewarded with a “green card” and a little chocolate Santa Claus.

“We just want to say thank you to everyone who behaves properly and considerately when parking,” saysSimone Reinhardt, Managing Director at ZV KVS Oberpfalz. “After all, that’s the majority of all road users.” AlsoMayor Johann Thielsupports this campaign: "In road traffic, mutual appreciation and community are of central importance. This campaign sets a wonderful example in this direction!"

The campaign is taking place for the eighth time and has always been well received by the population. “Some citizens are initially frightened because they expect a ticket. The joy of the sweet surprise is even greater,” reports Reinhardt. "In recent years we have received a lot of positive feedback - by email, telephone or in person. That is why we are continuing the thank you campaign this year too." In total, the ZV KVS Oberpfalz field staff will distribute over 5,000 chocolate Santa Clauses in 72 municipalities.
