Early detection day in the Cham district: memory tests for everyone!

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the second early detection day for dementia will take place in the Cham district office. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., interested citizens have the opportunity to have their memory tested. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Bavarian Ministry of Health that aims to improve the quality of life of people with dementia. It is known that dementia is often recognized too late, which represents a major challenge for both those affected and their relatives.

Early detection is crucial in order to be able to take timely measures. The test, which takes around ten minutes, is carried out by trained staff from the “Digital Dementia Register Bavaria” (DigiDem). It is a scientifically based short test that can provide initial indications of whether further medical examination is necessary. It is important to emphasize that this test does not replace a full medical diagnosis, but is only intended as a first step.

Appointment and implementation

Anyone who would like to take part in the test must make an appointment in advance. This can be done by telephone at 09971/78-785 or -291. Alternatively, you have the option of making an appointment by email gesundheitsregionplus@lra.landkreis-cham.de to book. The tests take place in a protected room to offer participants a comfortable and confidential atmosphere.

Participation in this early detection day is free of charge and is aimed at anyone who is unsure about their memory performance. The event offers a valuable opportunity to recognize possible signs of dementia at an early stage and to take further steps if necessary. The organizers hope that many people will take advantage of this offer and thus take an important step towards better health care and quality of life for themselves and their relatives.
