Record participation in the summer holiday reading club: 166 enthusiastic young readers!
The Sulzbach-Rosenberg city library celebrated a remarkable success this year. The summer holiday reading club set a new record with 166 registered participants. This means that the library staff were kept busy during the six weeks of the summer holidays. The young readers, aged 6 to 17, borrowed a total of 1,250 books. This is an impressive number that shows how much children and young people value reading.
For each book the participants read, they received a stamp. At the end of the summer holidays, the diligent readers were rewarded with prizes in kind and vouchers. These awards were presented by Mayor Stefan Frank and library director Christine Hollweck. The award ceremony took place on September 27th in the large town hall hall, which was even equipped with a gummy bear buffet for this special occasion. The buffet created a cheerful atmosphere and made the event an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
A look at the numbers
The high number of participants and the books borrowed are not just numbers, but also a sign of the city library's commitment to promoting reading. In recent years, the library has launched various programs and events to encourage children and young people to read. These initiatives seem to be bearing fruit, as more and more young people are showing an interest in books and literature.
The awards ceremony was a highlight of the summer holiday reading club and gave the young readers the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. The city library plans to hold similar events in the future to further promote reading and encourage enthusiasm for books. The positive response to the Summer Holiday Reading Club shows the library is on the right track to inspiring a new generation of readers.
