Konrad Huber is celebrating his 80th birthday. He grew up in Hahnbach and left many traces there. He was born on October 29, 1944 at Hauptstrasse 74. His parents were the master carpenter Josef and his wife Kunigunde. Konrad Huber has an older brother and a younger sister.
After school and boarding school in Weißenborn, he began his professional career in tax offices. He became the youngest authorized representative and main department head at Maxhütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. After 15 years, he moved to the Hiltl trousers factory, where he worked as managing director for 17 years.
Volunteering
His voluntary commitment is remarkable. He was active in the tax committee of the IHK Regensburg and other committees. He was also involved as a lay judge at the Amberg Regional Court and on the examination committee at Bavarian schools. He was politically active as a local council member and in the CSU. He was also on the board of the Catholic boys' association and was involved in the district youth ring, the volunteer fire department and the Hahnbach men's choir.
Konrad Huber is also a member of the sports club, the German Alpine Club and the Catholic Workers' Movement. He was always in demand at 14 club anniversaries and supported them with advice and support.
Connection to the church
His connection to the Catholic Church is strong. He was an active altar boy, lecturer and cantor. He also worked in the church choir and in church administration. His tireless efforts in renovating churches and building the new St. Josef daycare center are recognized. The installation of the new parish hall in the former monastery was based on his ideas.
Recognition and awards
His commitment has been recognized several times. In 2003 he became honorary chairman of the tax committee at the IHK Regensburg. In 2007 he received the Federal Republic's Medal of Merit. This was followed in 2010 by the Hahnbach Market's Golden Citizen's Medal and in 2013 by the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver. The diocese also honored him with the Bishop Johann Michael von Sailer Medal.
Basic attitude to life
Konrad Huber describes his basic attitude to life with the words gratitude and satisfaction. These relate to his professional and social position as well as his family. He sees his wife Inge, their three sons and their two grandchildren as his stabilizing “backbone”. He believes that without this support he would not have survived his serious illness seven years ago. “Since then, I have lived gratefully with every breath I take,” he assures. He also mentions his previous athletic fitness and talks about his high alpine tours and his love for football.
