Architecture Prize 2026: Apply now for Merching and Swabia!

On September 3, 2025, Mayor Helmut Luichtl welcomes citizens and visitors to the Merching municipality website. A central topic is the announcement of the 2026 Architecture Prize by the Swabia district. This is the fourth call for tenders of this type, which is aimed at private and public owners, foundations, associations, companies and municipalities. Applications are now possible and the deadline is November 30, 2025. The architecture prize is awarded in two categories: firstly for projects with a social-ecological architectural approach and secondly for those with an ecological-future-oriented architectural approach. Important issues in the community

The community of Merching is facing further challenges and events. On September 19, 2025, a sustainability day will be held in the Aichach-Friedberg district, which will focus on promoting sustainable practices. In addition, the Merchinger holiday program 2025 is in the starting blocks, which is considered a highlight in the community.

A significant concern of citizens is the rat problem in Merching that is being increasingly observed. The administration has already received several reports of the increased occurrence of these animals and is working on solutions. We are also looking for committed election workers for the local elections on March 8, 2026 to support the implementation of the election.

News from the community

The playground on the Paar was officially opened on May 30, 2025. This now offers a play ship and benches donated by the Merching Chicken Committee and is intended to serve as a meeting place for the children and families of the community. Furthermore, a new statute for the municipality of Merching will come into force on January 1, 2026, which regulates the reimbursement of expenses and costs for operations by the municipal fire brigade.
