New section of the BorWin6 management: plan changes and participation
The city of Meldorf has published an important announcement relating to the construction of a new high-voltage line. This line, known as the 600 kV DC underground cable, will be part of the BorWin6 grid connection project. The construction extends from the 12 nautical mile limit to the substation in Büttel. The current announcement concerns a second plan amendment that makes some adjustments to the original plans.
The main changes include the adjustment of the drumming areas, which means that the access roads and construction areas along the entire route will be revised. In addition, the laying depths are adjusted to the existing easements, ensuring that the cables are laid at the correct depth. In addition, compensation measures are planned as part of the landscape conservation plan to minimize the impact on the surrounding area.
Plan change details
The plan changes affect several communities, including Büttel, Kudensee, Landscheide and Sankt Margarethen in the Steinburg district as well as numerous other places in the Dithmarschen district. The project sponsor, TenneT Offshore GmbH, has revised the plans based on comments received and new findings. These changes were applied for to the Office for Energy Planning Approval (AfPE), which is responsible for approving the project.
An important point is that this project does not require an environmental impact assessment (EIA), which means that the authorities do not have to carry out a comprehensive environmental impact assessment. However, the public will have the opportunity to view the plan amendment documents, which will be available online from August 6, 2024 to September 5, 2024.
The documents can be accessed on the AfPE website and interested citizens can also request a USB stick containing the information. Data protection is also an issue, as the ownership structure is presented anonymously in the land acquisition plans. Those affected can request their key numbers from the relevant offices to gain access to the information.
Objections to the plan change can be submitted in writing until September 19, 2024. Citizens are invited to raise their concerns and there are several places where these concerns can be addressed. The notice also includes information on how objections can be submitted electronically, making the process easier for many.
The notice and associated information is an important step in the planning approval process, which is intended to ensure that all legal aspects of the project are properly addressed. The public will be informed of progress and care will be taken to ensure that all voices are heard.
