Open day: Discover the modernized Steinmühle waste management center!

(Steinmühle) On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the Steinmühle Waste Management Center (AWZ) will open its doors to anyone interested from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This day is special because it marks the completion of extensive modernization work that has made the EWZ one of the most advanced landfills in Bavaria.

The day starts at 10:00 a.m. with a warm welcome from District Administrator Roland Grillmeier. Afterwards, the mayors of the surrounding communities will address a few words to the guests. Your physical well-being is well taken care of: from 10:00 a.m. there is a selection of drinks, followed by a lunch menu with delicious steak and bratwurst rolls from 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon, visitors can relax with a cup of coffee and a selection of cakes. Donations are also collected that will benefit the Mitterteicher Tafel e.V.

Entertainment for young and old

There is an exciting program for the little guests: a guessing game, a mini soccer field and crayons invite you to take part. A wheel of fortune from the Schwandorf waste recycling association (ZMS) also provides entertainment. A special highlight is the new image film about the EEZ, which is presented in the exhibition room together with an updated model of the landfill. Visitors can also find out about the history and current developments of the center.

Another highlight of the day are the tours around the grounds with the Großbüchelberg tourist train, which take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the approximately 30-minute journey, guests have the opportunity to get to know various EWZ facilities, such as the landfill, the bulky waste acceptance and the ZMS waste transfer area. The Steinmühle Waste Management Center is looking forward to numerous visitors and an informative and entertaining day.
