The anticipation of the 125th anniversary of the railway line in the city triangle is palpable. On August 31, 2024, a very special festival will be celebrated that honors the history and importance of this important transport connection. The celebrations begin at 12:00 p.m. with the arrival of a special train from the Länderbahn/Oberpfalzbahn at the train station in Burglengenfeld, where numerous invited guests are expected.
In the morning, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the youth brass band of the Leonberg Volunteer Fire Department will provide musical entertainment at the train station in Maxhütte-Haidhof. The sounds of the band will enrich the atmosphere of the festival and put visitors in a celebratory mood.
Diverse activities and exhibitions
A highlight of the celebrations is the photo exhibition in the former goods shed at Burglengenfeld train station. Here visitors can admire historical photographs, documents and plans on the history of the city triangle railway. Physical well-being is also taken care of so that guests can fortify themselves during the festival.
Another exciting offer is the opportunity to travel to the cement works in a historic hand lever trolley from 1930. This nostalgic ride will delight both young and old. There will also be a vehicle exhibition at which various railway companies will present their locomotives, railcars and wagons.
All railway lovers have the opportunity to explore the route between Burglengenfeld, Teublitz and Maxhütte-Haidhof with a historic rail bus from the Passau Railway Friends. The shuttle trips take place between 12:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. and passengers can hop on and off at various stops. The stops are at the train station in Maxhütte-Haidhof, at the cemetery parking lot in Teublitz and at the train station area in Burglengenfeld.
