Get involved and help shape things: The Bavarian homeland project is taking off
A new research project entitled “Heimatprojekt Bayern” aims to investigate social cohesion in rural areas of Bavaria. The Nuremberg University of Technology will analyze various aspects of coexistence in these regions by 2026. The project is supported by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland and invites citizens to actively participate in the research.
What exactly does social cohesion mean? It refers to the sense of belonging and the common good of the community. To explore this, three surveys and four in-depth projects will be carried out. Voices from different age groups and backgrounds will be heard, both locals and newcomers. Further information can be found on the official project website: www.heimatprojekt-bayern.de.
Participation and process
All citizens living in rural areas are invited to take part in the surveys. These are accessible online via the project website. For the in-depth projects, the team will specifically address people and organizations throughout Bavaria to ensure a broad perspective.
The first survey begins on September 14th and runs until October 14th, 2024. This measures the connectedness of people in their communities. Participation is easy and can be done from the comfort of your own home.
Why should you join? The results of this research will provide valuable insights into the social structures of rural regions. These findings can be important for both citizens and politicians in order to promote and make social cohesion visible. The results are regularly published on the project website so that anyone interested can follow developments. The results report of the first survey and a brochure about support options for seniors are already available online.
The project management is in the hands of Prof. Dr. Sabine Fromm from the Nuremberg University of Technology. If you have any questions or would like to contact us, please use the email address heimatprojekt-bayern@th-nuernberg.de available.
