Broadband expansion in Nittendorf: Citizen information and route inspection planned!

On October 2, 2025, important information for citizens on broadband expansion will take place in the Zeiler and Hardt districts. This expansion is being carried out by the company Bauer Bauunternehmung (Walter Bauer GmbH & Co. KG). Citizens have the opportunity to take part in a route inspection in the affected districts on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Construction of the house connections and the route construction is expected to begin in calendar week 42 or 43. If you have any questions, you can contact Andreas Engl from Markt Nittendorf on 09404 642 115. These steps are part of a comprehensive effort to advance digital infrastructure.

The comprehensive coverage of high-performance gigabit networks is a prerequisite for digitalization in Germany and opens up new application possibilities. According to a telephone survey carried out as part of a funding project, 300 homeowners in rural areas expressed a desire for more transparency about the benefits, costs and effort of a broadband connection. The majority of respondents are between 61 and 75 years old, and many of them live in their own homes, often without children under 18 in the household. Reasons for wanting a house connection include slow internet connections and frequent use of the internet. Nevertheless, many stated that they did not feel sufficiently informed about the funded construction projects.

Need for clarity

The survey results show that there is often confusion about the benefits of a fast internet connection. Residential property owners also want specific information about the costs of a house connection and the effects of construction work on their property. This information is crucial to increase acceptance and participation in the expansion measures.

As part of the Federal Government's digital agenda, the goal is to achieve a comprehensive supply of fiber optic connections to homes and the latest mobile communications standard by 2030. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Homeland (BMLEH) supports this expansion, especially in rural areas where a powerful digital infrastructure is of indispensable importance for municipalities and agriculture. A dashboard for evaluating mobile phone and broadband coverage in these regions shows current data on mobile phone coverage and download speeds in households and businesses.

The dashboard offers interactive options for map display and the development of supply levels over time. It is updated every four months, while broadband data is updated every six months. This enables citizens to better understand the extent to which the expansion is making effective progress and where there is still a need for action.

Overall, the upcoming broadband expansion in the Zeiler and Hardt districts represents an important step towards digitalization. It not only offers a faster internet connection for residents, but is also part of the federal government's higher goal of closing the digital gap between urban and rural areas. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in the information and events in order to clarify their questions and shape the expansion together.
