Renovation offensive: meeting on energy efficiency in Neutraubling!

On October 14, 2025, an informative event for homeowners' associations (WEGs) will take place in the Kulturhaus Neutraubling, which is organized by the Regensburg Energy Agency in cooperation with the city of Neutraubling and the Regensburg district. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and deals with the topic of energy renovation and the use of renewable energies in WEG buildings. A focus will be on the central energy supply and collective decision-making for renovation measures. Participants can also find out about different heating systems and available funding for energy-efficient residential building renovations. Prior registration for the event is required; Further information can be found on the Energy Agency's homepage.

Advantages of energy-efficient renovation

An energy-efficient renovation can reduce a building’s energy requirements by up to 80 percent. This includes measures on the facade, roof, windows, basement and the heating system. According to ADAC, the advantages of such a renovation are manifold: Significantly lower heating costs, improved living comfort and an increase in the value of the property are just some of the positive effects. Owners can also benefit from government subsidies and tax relief, which can ease the financial burden of renovation. For example, up to 20 percent of the renovation costs can be deducted over a period of three years, up to a maximum of 200,000 euros if the building is at least 10 years old and is occupied by the owner.

Disadvantages and challenges

However, the advantages also come with significant challenges. The investment costs of an energy renovation can quickly amount to tens of thousands of euros. There is also a lot of planning work involved, and noise and dirt can affect the quality of life during the construction phase. It may also be necessary to install a ventilation system to ensure good air quality in the building. According to the legal regulations of the Building Energy Act (GEG), certain renovation obligations must also be adhered to, such as the insulation of roofs and heating pipes and the replacement of old heating systems.

The energy renovation step can be divided into five main steps: First, an energy consultation should be carried out, followed by detailed planning of the measures. The next step is to apply for funding before the actual renovation measures are implemented. Finally, a confirmation must be issued. It is advisable to involve energy efficiency experts in the process in order to correctly plan and implement all relevant measures.

Funding opportunities and programs

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) supports energy-efficient renovations through various funding programs, such as the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG). This program combines previous funding measures for energy efficiency and renewable energies and will be continued through the turn of the year 2024/2025. The main goal of the BEG is to save energy costs and contribute to climate protection. The application is submitted online via the BAFA portal and is accessible to owners, WEGs as well as companies and municipalities. It should be noted that applicants must apply for funding before applying for measures.
