Renovation of the community connection road: closure from August 25th!
The renovation of the Langenerling – Alteglfosheim community road will begin on August 25, 2025 and is expected to take 14 days. As Hagelstadt.de reports, two sections of the road are being worked on. The first area includes the junction at R2/Mooshammer Straße, while the second area concerns the western section from the Weiherweg intersection to Alteglofsheimer Flur. The total length of the construction project is 1000 meters and includes milling through the old base layer, applying a new asphalt layer and renewing the shoulder. Diversions will be signposted via the R10 Erlenbachstrasse Langenerling to Hagelstadt.
In parallel to this renovation, the community of Hohenkammer is planning to revise the community road to Schlipps. The local council decided to reject a complete renovation costing 1.3 million euros. Instead, only the greatest damage is repaired, as Merkur.de reports. The renovation measures in Hohenkammer affect 600 meters of the shoulders and not the entire 3.5 kilometers of the road. There is an urgent need for action between Oberwohlbach and Deutldorf, especially due to the heavy goods traffic to the gravel works. The costs for this necessary work amount to 271,000 euros.
Investment needs for transport infrastructure
The extensive renovation measures in various communities are part of a larger problem: the investment needed to maintain and expand rail and road infrastructure in Germany is enormous. According to a study by the German Institute for Urban Studies (Difu), this will add up to over 372 billion euros by 2030. This includes around 283 billion euros for road infrastructure and around 64 billion euros for local public transport. The federal government has recognized the urgency of the situation and has made available 100 billion euros from the special infrastructure and climate neutrality fund for states and municipalities, according to ADAC.
However, it remains unclear how much money from this special fund actually flows into transport infrastructure, as distribution and use are decided by the respective countries. The ADAC therefore calls for a modernization of the municipal transport networks and emphasizes the need for support from the federal states in order to ensure road safety through good road conditions. Strategic instruments such as the Municipal Transport Financing Act should be used better in order to use financial resources in a targeted manner.
