In memory of Sister Renate: A life for charity
In loving memory of Sister Renate Meier, who comes from Kreuth, the Beratzhausen community and the European Cultural Work Board are affected by a deep loss. Sister Renate was a committed nun of the Mallersdorf Sisters and worked tirelessly for those in need in Romania, especially in Oradea.
The roots of the Board of Trustees are closely linked to numerous aid convoys to Romania. When the members learned about the impressive activities of the Mallersdorf Sisters in Oradea, it quickly became clear that supporting the sisters in this region is of great importance. The aid measures from Beratzhausen focused on supporting the work of the sisters in Oradea and Odorhei.
Joint efforts for those in need
Various organizations, including the Catholic Women's Association, the table tennis club and the parish community, have come together to create a wide range of support offers. During on-site visits, the great need of the Romanian children and families became apparent, but also the impressive assistance provided by the sisters. These community actions demonstrate the importance of working together to provide effective assistance.
In 2001, the Regensburger Sonntagszeitung reported on the aid convoys and highlighted the admirable work of Sister Renate. Their determination to help despite the challenges was inspiring. Her goal was always to stand by people in need and give them hope.
Sister Renate implemented her aid projects with a mixture of Christian charity and remarkable calmness. These included, among other things, establishing a kindergarten for children with disabilities, supporting women and providing relief goods in exchange for medical services for children. These initiatives show how important it is to provide practical help and support people in their time of need.
Sister Renate was not only a source of inspiration, but also a valuable teacher. She taught how to help effectively by overcoming obstacles and building a network of supporters. Her philosophy that every small step counts as long as you keep the goal of helping those in need in mind will never be forgotten.
In her old age, Sister Renate withdrew to the Mallersdorf monastery, but remained active in organizing relief transport. Your tireless efforts are appreciated by many and will be fondly remembered.
Michael Eibl and Matthias Beer, Chairman of the European Cultural Work Board of Trustees and First Mayor, pay tribute to the life's work of this great nun and the traces she left behind.
