Kirwa in Windischeschenbach: Tradition meets vintage fire department!

A special event is just around the corner in Windischeschenbach: the Kirchweih, which this year will not be celebrated on the second Sunday in September as usual, but on September 15th. This change follows the old market rule, which states that the parish fair takes place on the Sunday after the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (September 8th). If that Sunday is already the 8th, the celebration is postponed to the following Sunday, which is the case this year.

The anticipation of the fair is palpable, as the event promises a variety of culinary delicacies from the region. The gastronomy will feature traditional “Kirwa delicacies” that are intended to put visitors in a festive mood. In addition, the “Historical Fire Department” association will present vintage fire engines around the town square, which will certainly be a highlight for many.

Fire brigade vintage car tour

The celebration begins on Saturday at 11 a.m. with a tour by the “Historical Fire Department” and other participating fire departments. This starts at the Bergler truck stop in the Neuhaus business park. The classic cars will drive on the B 15 to Neustadt an der Waldnaab to the monastery church of St. Felix. A photo shoot is planned there before the tour continues via Roschau and Edeldorf to Weiden. The vehicles will then be put on display in the old town of Weiden. At 4 p.m. the classic cars return to Windischeschenbach via Altenstadt.

The Kirchweih is not only a celebration of tradition, but also an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate local culture. Preparations are in full swing and the organizers are confident that the event will be a complete success. The combination of historic vehicles and regional specialties will certainly attract many visitors and ensure an unforgettable experience.
