Long Night of Democracy: A celebration for Weiden and Neustadt
September 18, 2024
The “Long Night of Democracy” is just around the corner and promises an exciting event for all citizens.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the city of Weiden and the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab will be the venue for the “Long Night of Democracy”. This event aims to raise awareness of the values and principles of democracy. This year there will be an extensive program with a total of 18 different events spread across the entire region.
Various events and shuttle service
To make it easier for visitors to take part in the various events, there will be a free shuttle bus service for the first time. This will bring people from Waidhaus/Vohenstrauß and from Eschenbach/Pressath/Parkstein to Weiden and the central event in Neustadt. This is a great way to ensure everyone has the chance to take part in this important evening.
There will also be some interesting events taking place in Vohenstrauß itself that are intended to appeal to citizens:
- Donnerstag, 19.09., ab 19 Uhr: „Leben und Überleben“ – eine Lesung über Alexander Fried und Dietrich Bonhoeffer im Friedrich.
- Freitag, 27.09., ab 15 Uhr: „Kreativ weiblicher Blick auf Demokratie“ – ein Collagen-Workshop und eine Ausstellung im Evangelischen Gemeindehaus.
- Samstag, 28.09., ab 19 Uhr: „Kirche. Demokratie. Zukunft“ – eine Diskussion über den Beitrag der Kirchen zur Demokratie in der Realschule Vohenstrauß.
