Reading day in the city library: Adventures in space for children

Ralf Mützel, the head of the Office for Sustainability, will read from the book “July and Ulf fly into space” in the city library on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 4 p.m. In the story, the two of them experience the craziest adventures in their self-made rocket. The book is recommended for children ages 6 and up. Admission is free; prior registration is not required.

Reading aloud connects generations

The event is a cooperation between the multi-generational house and the city library. It takes place under the motto “Reading connects generations”. The nationwide reading day is a joint initiative of DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lese and Deutsche Bahn Foundation. Since 2004, this day has marked reading aloud every year on the third Friday in November. The aim is to get children and adults excited about reading aloud and to get people to volunteer to promote reading.

Reading aloud helps children learn to read well themselves. The nationwide reading day will be extended with the digital reading festival. This offers children location-independent access to exciting stories with reading videos. The National Reading Day is now Germany's largest reading festival.
