As part of this year's summer holiday program of the city of Neumarkt i.d.OPf. Children aged 7 to 12 experienced an exciting journey of discovery through history. Under the guidance of farrier Kurt Ludwig, the young participants immersed themselves in various eras, from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages and even into the future.
The event not only gave the children the opportunity to learn about the past, but also to become active themselves. Kurt Ludwig, an experienced farrier, showed the children how to work with iron and what techniques were used in the past. The children were thrilled when they were able to take the tools and materials into their hands.
A look into the past
The Iron Age, known for its advanced metalworking methods, was an exciting topic for the young adventurers. They learned how important iron was for the development of tools and weapons. Ludwig explained that during this time, people had to learn a lot about nature and the materials around them in order to survive and strengthen their communities.
After the Iron Age we continued into the Middle Ages. Here the children learned how farriers worked back then and what role they played in society.
