In Weiding, a remarkable fundraising campaign by the volunteer fire department caused a stir. The initiative aimed to purchase a mud vacuum cleaner to improve the fire department's operational capability. The two chairmen, Christian Peinkofer and Christian Kolbeck, as well as the commanders Alwin Schmelzinger, Michael Nachreiner and Andreas Ederer were visibly pleased with the great support that they were able to experience at a small celebration in the equipment shed. The role of the Nachreiner family from Friedendorf, who were the driving force behind this campaign, was particularly highlighted.

Successful partnership with VR Bank

VR Bank Ostbayern-Mitte acted as a partner and made its crowdfunding platform available. Under the motto “Many achieve more”, clubs can present their projects online and collect donations. An additional incentive was that for every donation of five euros or more, the bank also contributed five euros, which significantly increased the total amount. Peinkofer was enthusiastic about the large number of donations that came from both private individuals and companies.

It was a big surprise when it became known that, in addition to the mud vacuum, a professional submersible pump from Rosenbauer could also be purchased. Fire chief Schmelzinger acknowledged the commitment of the Nachreiner family and presented Monika Nachreiner with a colorful bouquet of flowers as a thank you. Mayor Daniel Paul, who wrote the information brochure for citizens, received sweets as a small gesture of appreciation.

The new devices, which cost a total of 5,500 euros, are already in use. Schmelzinger emphasized the importance of this purchase, which provides financial relief for the community of Weiding. The use of modern social media also played a crucial role in the success of the campaign. The Weiding fire department has broken new ground here, which has had a positive impact. Mayor Paul recalled the heavy rain events of last summer, during which the new devices were urgently needed in Neumühlen. The population is aware of the importance of the fire department, which is reflected in the high response to the crowdfunding campaign.

Monika Nachreiner concluded the celebration by pointing out that the great solidarity within the fire department and the community was crucial to the success of the fundraising campaign. Young and old pulled together to realize this project.
