Barrier-free living: Tips for a self-determined life in old age

Living in old age: tips and support

Your own apartment becomes more and more important as you get older.

As we get older, not only our bodies change, but also our demands on the home. Many people realize that their home no longer meets their needs, be it because of physical limitations or because they need care. In order to meet these challenges, the Waldmünchen Senior Citizens' Advisory Council has launched an interesting event.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, an information afternoon will take place in the Kupferdachl. From 3 p.m., certified housing advisor Anita Steindl from the Cham District Office will talk about how small or large adjustments to the apartment can make life easier. The goal is to maintain independence and quality of life for as long as possible. A central theme will be accessibility, which enables older people and people with disabilities to live safely and comfortably.

Practical tips for living space design

As part of the lecture there will be a kind of “tour” through different living situations. Using pictures and examples, Steindl shows how you can make your home barrier-free or at least barrier-free. These transformations are often easier to implement than you think and can make a big difference in everyday life.

Another important point of the afternoon is the financing options for necessary adjustments. Many people don't know that there are various grants that can help cover the costs. The lecture also offers valuable tips for those who want to build new buildings on how to take accessibility into account in the planning phase.

Participation in this information afternoon is free and donations are welcome. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in senior living space design and would like to receive practical tips.
