The city of Schorndorf recently made a significant decision affecting the future use of a certain area. At a meeting of the local council, the 6th amendment to the land use plan was decided, which goes hand in hand with the 3rd amendment to the development plan for the Schorndorf industrial area - Chamer Straße/Seignweg. These changes are available for public review from August 23, 2024 to September 23, 2024.
The background to this planning is that part of the property that was previously designated as a cemetery area is actually only partially used for this purpose. The rest of the property is used as public parking. In order to reflect the actual circumstances, an adjustment to both the land use plan and the development plan is necessary. This is done in accordance with the urban planning requirements that make such an adjustment necessary.
Public participation and information
The city administration has invited the public and the responsible authorities to participate in accordance with the provisions of the Building Code (BauGB). The documents detailing the changes are available both in print and online. Interested citizens can view the drafts and the environmental report to find out about the planned changes.
The environmentally relevant information shows that the change areas are on the eastern edge of Schorndorf and have already been developed. The surrounding area is characterized by existing roads and buildings, which means that no protected species or biotope areas are affected. The planned changes are not expected to have any significant negative effects on the environment as the areas are already largely sealed.
The engineering office ALTMANN GmbH & Co. KG was commissioned to draw up the development plan. The city administration emphasizes that citizen participation is an important part of the process to ensure transparency and take residents' opinions into account.
