New construction of the St. Katharina daycare center: groundbreaking ceremony for modern care

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of the St. Katharina day care center will take place on October 10th. The new facility is being built in the area of ​​the former fairground.

Details about the new building

A five-group facility will be built there on two floors using timber frame construction. There are two crèche groups on the ground floor. These are connected by a common sanitary and changing area. There are also two bedrooms and a dining room with a kitchen. The cloakrooms for the crèche and regular groups are accessible from the entrance area.

There are two regular groups and one mixed group on the upper floor. A staircase accesses the upper rooms. Accessibility is guaranteed by a lift. In total, the house offers 30 crèche and 59 kindergarten places.

Financing and time frame

The institution is sponsored by the Evangelical Lutheran parish. The building is scheduled to be completed by September 2025. The costs for the new building are around 5.2 million euros. According to planning, the market town has to raise more than 2 million euros.

Funding is provided by the government of Middle Franconia according to BayFAG. The KfW also supports the project with the “Climate-friendly new non-residential building” program.

Time is running out for this new building. The operating license for the temporary daycare accommodation in the former Schellenberger office building on Feuchtwanger Straße will soon expire.
