New citizens in Amberg: Trial ticket for public transport now available!
The city of Amberg's residents' office has joined an exciting initiative that aims to promote local public transport (ÖPNV). This campaign is supported by the VGN innovation package, which was launched by the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association (VGN). The idea behind it is to offer the citizens of Amberg a simple and cost-effective way to use public transport, which runs every half hour in the city and also provides connections beyond the city limits.
The Nuremberg metropolitan region, in which Amberg is located, offers residents expanded mobility options. This means that people can travel not only within the city but also to surrounding areas. A practical innovation is that tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver at the stops, making access to public transport easier.
Welcome greeting for new citizens
A special highlight of the campaign is the trial ticket that newly registered adult citizens of Amberg receive. This ticket is worth 23.90 euros and can be redeemed in the VGN online shop or via the VGN app until December 31, 2024. It is aimed specifically at people who are entering a new life situation, such as moving. The idea is to give these people a friendly welcome while encouraging them to use public transport more.
In order to receive the trial ticket, new citizens must register in person, regardless of whether it is their main or secondary residence. Sending by post is not possible; the ticket will be handed over directly on site. The trial ticket is valid throughout the entire VGN area and allows users to purchase a day ticket or weekend ticket that is valid for as many trips as they want within the selected period. Up to six people can travel on one ticket, including a maximum of two adults and one dog. Alternatively, bicycles can be taken instead of people. It is important to note that the voucher is not transferable.
