Welcome to Sulzbach-Rosenberg: 70 newborns receive welcome money
A special event was celebrated in the town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg that reflects the joy of new life in the community. The Committee for Family, Youth, Seniors, Disabled People, Culture and Sport launched an initiative in 2018 to offer new parents financial support in the form of a welcome allowance. This measure aims to strengthen families' ties to the city and make it easier for them to start becoming parents.
Last weekend the ceremonial handover of the welcome money for the 70 newborns who saw the light of day in the first half of 2024 took place. Originally an outdoor event was planned at the Drachenpfad in the city moat, but the weather put a damper on the plan. Instead, the handover was held in the Seidel Historical Printing House, where the atmosphere was still festive.

First Mayor Stefan Frank welcomed the families and gave a short speech in which he emphasized the importance of the event. Each newborn child received a welcome allowance of 100 euros, which was paid out directly on site by two city treasury employees. The mayor emphasized how important it is that parents feel comfortable in Sulzbach-Rosenberg and that the city is continually working to create a child-friendly environment.
In his speech, Frank emphasized that the city regularly invests in infrastructure for families. A playground is renovated every year and there are plans to expand daycare and after-school places. In addition, the open all-day school at primary schools will be further expanded to meet the needs of families. These measures are intended to ensure that the city remains attractive for young families.
Parents who were unable to attend the event have the opportunity to collect the welcome money until October 31, 2024. All you have to do is present your ID at the city treasury at Rathausgasse 1. The city administration has endeavored to make access to this support as easy as possible to ensure that every family can benefit from this initiative.
