Children's Bring Day in Sulzbach-Rosenberg: Exciting experiences in the forest!

On November 19, 2025, the city of Sulzbach-Rosenberg organized a children's day that was specially designed for city administration employees. This day fell on Penance and Prayer Day and was an opportunity for employees to bring their primary school-aged children to work. A total of 16 children took part in the event, which was organized by the equal opportunities officer Christine Dehling. She accompanied the children through the varied program together with Kathrin Pöllinger.

The event began at 8:30 a.m. in the middle town hall, where the second mayor Günter Koller warmly welcomed the group. The first part of the day took the children to the “Obere Wagensaß local recreation area”. A Bruckner bus took the children and carers to the hiking car park in Wagensaß, where Carolin Vieracker and Vera Häusler from the Amberg-Neumarkt i.d.OPf Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry. led the children through the forest.

Forest adventure

There were numerous exciting activities on the program in the forest. The children collected leaves, guessed forest animals and recognized various animal tracks. Equipped with cup magnifying glasses donated by Mayor Stefan Frank, they were able to observe small forest creatures and plants. The stay in the forest lasted about 2.5 hours and the forest rangers received many thanks for their instructive and interesting tour.

After the visit to the forest, the path led to the city library on Luitpoldplatz. There the children had the opportunity to browse, read and do creative crafts. They made bookmarks and painted wooden keychains in the shape of forest animals. The day ended at lunchtime when the children were picked up and proudly presented their experiences and the works they had made.

Clear comparison with the previous year

The children's bring day had a slightly different character compared to the previous year, when the children explored a dragon path. This year the building yard and the municipal utilities were visited. The children started the day with breakfast together in the hammock and then received exciting insights into the work of the construction yard from construction yard manager Erwin Thurner and his deputy manager Tobias Bauschke. They were able to try out various machines, including sweepers and trucks, and were amazed at the winter service equipment.

At the public utility company, Martin Remer and Petra Leier presented an informative film about the water cycle and carried out three experiments that aroused the children's curiosity. The morning program concluded in the city library, where First Mayor Stefan Frank read from the book “Stories from the Life of Anna BergMaus”. This meant that the children could not only learn a lot, but also express their creativity by making construction site vehicles.
