New cell phone mast in Bachetsfeld: A milestone for the region
As part of an on-site appointment in Bachetsfeld, a 40 meter high mobile phone mast was officially handed over to the mobile network providers Telekom and Vodafone. In the next few weeks and months it will be their job to wire the mast accordingly. From spring 2025, owners of a mobile phone will be able to use its advantages.

Local councilors and employees of the building yard are also present.
The path to the cell phone tower
Dehling looks back at how the cell phone mast came into being. In 2019, the municipality applied through the government of the Upper Palatinate for a mast location in Bachetsfeld and Götzendorf. The Götzendorf issue is quickly resolved, as a mast is planned there next to the A6 motorway for its own benefit. A location in Bachetsfeld turns out to be eligible for funding. At the November 2019 meeting, the local council decided to submit a funding application. After the approval and notification of the search groups by the mobile phone provider, the search for property begins. The final location will be found after a few appointments. Dehling thanks the Waiz family for the uncomplicated process of the negotiations.
Financial aspects
In May 2023, the local council will award the contract for the planning and construction of the mast to Bayerische Kommunikation GmbH. The approval has been received and the companies Fuchs Europoles and Freitag are erecting the mast in the summer. Dehling comments on the financial costs. The net costs amount to approximately 653,000 euros. Thanks to funding from the Bavarian State Government amounting to 500,000 euros, the municipality has a remaining balance of around 153,000 euros. The mayor is pleased that the project is becoming a reality thanks to the commitment of State Minister Füracker and State Parliament Member Schwartz.
Votes for handover
The managing director of Bayerische Kommunikation GmbH,Alois Scherer, describes the day as a joy for the region. He emphasizes the importance of the open attitude of the Waiz family, who made the construction of the mast possible on their former property through a barter transaction. Scherer thanks the local council for the order. The 40 meter high reinforced concrete pylon is being built by the companies Fuchs Europoles from Neumarkt and Freitag from Parsberg. Telekom and Vodafone will use the mast, which is expected to be operational by spring.
Minister of State Füracker emphasizes the importance of eliminating the white spots. The infrastructure is often not available in rural areas. The Free State of Bavaria supports communities that take initiative. MdL Schwartz was very active in the realization of the mast. The state has invested almost three billion euros in expanding a functioning mobile phone network. Füracker shows understanding for the residents who suffer from the lack of basic conditions. A higher quality of life is achieved through mobile communications.
The deputy district administratorStefan Braunbrings the congratulations fromRichard Reisingerto the community. Illschwang recognized the signs of the times and showed foresight. We managed to remove another white spot. Braun hopes that many other municipalities will follow this example.
Those affected express themselves
The residents of Bachetsfeld, Hackern and Frankenhof have suffered from poor mobile phone connections in the past.Markus Rahm, resident of Hackern, reports on his experiences. He works in the area of digitalization and often had problems being reachable. A mobile phone connection is also important when working in the forest. An incident where a person falls on a trail and is disconnected highlights the dangers.
Selina Englhard, local councilor in Illschwang, emphasizes the importance of mobile phone connections. The local council unanimously approved the project. She sees the new cell phone mast as a basis for further progress in various areas. Mobile working is playing an increasingly important role in work and everyday life.
