New children's forest run inspires 170 participants in Illschwang

This year, SV Illschwang's children's forest run has once again proven that it is an integral part of the local sports calendar. With 170 children taking part, the event, which was taking place for the 31st time, was a complete success. The atmosphere was lively and the little athletes were full of energy and enthusiasm.

An exciting innovation this year was the introduction of a shorter route for the youngest participants. Children born between 2019 and 2021 had the opportunity to run over a distance of around 300 meters. This decision was made to enable the very little ones to take part, as many of them were previously unable to take part due to the longer distances. The new course started on the 100-meter track and led over the grass playing field to the finish on the B course.

New competition for the youngest

The response to the new 300 meter course was overwhelming. 40 children, including 21 boys and 19 girls, took part in this competition. The excitement was palpable, not only among the children, but also among the parents, who loudly cheered their offspring on. The spectators had an excellent view of the action from the terrace of the sports center and were able to accompany the little runners to the finish.

The new competition was followed by the traditional runs for the older age groups. The children ran different distances: 800 meters for those born in 2017 and 2018, 1600 meters for those born in 2014 to 2016 and 2400 meters for those born in 2011 to 2013. The division into boys and girls ensured a fair and exciting competition atmosphere.

At the subsequent awards ceremony, department head Andreas Dehling thanked all the helpers who had contributed to the smooth running of the event. He praised the excellent weather, which made the conditions optimal for the participants. The 2nd Mayor Benjamin Hiltl brought the patron's greetings and emphasized the importance of the event for SV Illschwang's youth work. Each of the 170 participants received a trophy and a certificate, recognizing the children's achievements.

The fastest runners were also honored. Lorenz Prosch won the boys' 300 meters with a time of 1:35 minutes, while Eva Stollner achieved the fastest time in the girls' 1:33 minutes. The results of the other distances also show impressive achievements that the children have achieved this year.
