Ensdorf applies for new water permit for sewage treatment plant
The municipality of Ensdorf has taken an important step with regard to wastewater disposal. On August 8, 2024, it was announced that the community had applied for a new water permit from the Amberg-Sulzbach district office. This permit is necessary in order to continue to discharge wastewater from the Hirschwald sewage treatment plant into the groundwater.
The sewage treatment plant, which is located in the picturesque Taubenbacher Valley, has had approval for this process since 2003. However, this permit expires on December 31, 2024, which is why the municipality is now taking action to request an extension. Wastewater treatment is a central part of the municipal infrastructure and the municipality wants to ensure that all legal requirements are met.
Details about the sewage treatment plant and the plans
The Hirschwald sewage treatment plant is located on property with land number 418/1 in the Garsdorf district. The treated wastewater seeps away through the living soil layer into the adjacent areas. This happens on parcels 418/1 and 418/0, both of which belong to the Garsdorf district. The plans, which represent the details of the project, can be viewed in the Ensdorf town hall from August 12th to September 13th, 2024.
Town Hall hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with additional office hours on Tuesday and Thursday. For anyone interested in the details of the project, it is important to know that the plans are not available digitally. We therefore recommend that you visit the town hall in person.
The municipality has also pointed out that anyone whose interests are affected by the project can raise objections up to two weeks after the expiry of the interpretation period. These objections can be submitted in writing or for recording to the municipality or district office. It is important that all those affected raise their voices to ensure their concerns are heard.
The project will be announced not only in the town hall, but also online on the official website of the municipality of Ensdorf. This enables citizens to obtain comprehensive information and, if necessary, to actively participate in the process.
With this step, the municipality of Ensdorf, under the leadership of Mayor Hans Ram, shows that it takes responsibility for wastewater disposal seriously and is taking the necessary steps to protect the environment and meet legal requirements.
