Gallimarkt in Burghausen: Autumnal diversity and creative experiences

Under the golden October sun, Burghausen's old town will once again be transformed into an autumnally decorated market square on Sunday, October 27th. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can discover high-quality products, creative craftsmanship and culinary delicacies. The retailers in the old and new towns also invite you to go on a shopping spree from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., where you can win attractive prizes.

Diversity at Gallimarkt

This year, the variety of products and offers at the popular Gallimarkt in Burghausen is as colorful as the bright autumn leaves. From 11 a.m. onwards, visitors can expect a varied mix of traditional and modern craftsmanship at the stalls lovingly decorated with corn cobs, pumpkins and bales of straw. From handmade artwork to autumnal decorations to delicious food, there is something for every taste here.

Sustainable products and new arrivals

Unique and warm items, self-produced, high quality and sustainable: these are the values behind the goods on offer. In addition to the popular, well-known providers, there are some new additions this year, such as the gourmet manufacturer “Oliwa” from Marktl, which is presenting its natural seasoning oils. Friends of wool and felt can look forward to Maasch wool as well as self-felted bags, socks and gloves from Susanne Schinagl. Warm things made from alpaca wool, ointments, creams and tinctures as well as wooden and gift items are just as important as “primal medicine” products. The ceramic studio Marbled Mud is also represented again with handmade, unique ceramic pieces from the turntable.

Creative workshops for young and old

Atelier Gruber offers a special bronze casting workshop on the town square, where children and adults can develop their creativity and learn about historical craft techniques. Regardless of whether it is jewelry or a work of art – the individual, unique pieces are designed in plaster and then cast in bronze on site. Youngsters can also get involved in crafts: pumpkin carving for children on the town square has been an extra highlight for children and families for years.

Culinary delicacies

Juicy burgers from the Raitenhaslach water buffalo, vegetarian wraps from “Herzenssache”, traditional Bosna and sausages from Wenzl Breu leave nothing to be desired. If you have a sweet tooth, you shouldn't miss the fresh crepes at Bichl. The Burghausen restaurateurs also pamper their guests with a cozy stop in the restaurants and guest gardens.

Musical entertainment

The band Something Good will provide musical entertainment in the town square. With their mix of guitar, piano and vocals, they bring “chocolate for the ears” from Lower Bavaria to the stage. In the Bichl area, musician Chris Holzapfel ensures a good atmosphere with rock and pop classics from the last decades, while visitors can be impressed by the Lindhuber family's handmade clay balls.

Burghausen shopping autumn

The Gallimarkt is traditionally the highlight and conclusion of the Burghausen shopping autumn. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the shops in the old and new towns invite you to an autumnal shopping spree, where you can discover the latest trends for the cold season. In addition, on the last shopping Sunday of the year, visitors once again have the chance to win one of the coveted Burghauser Golden Cards with a filled stamp card, which offers free entry to numerous events and facilities in the city.

Visitor Information

To make your visit to the Gallimarkt relaxed, Burghauser Touristik recommends parking in the parking lot at the exhibition hall. From there the free city bus runs to the town square every half hour. In general, the city bus runs free of charge every half hour throughout the city on this day. Please note that the Alte Brücke and Bruckgasse are closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while passage through the town square remains possible at all times.
