Grill’n’Chill in Mering: goal wall tournament delights young and old!
On September 4th, 2025, Grill'n'Chill took place in Badanger, an event organized by the Fairtrade community of Mering to celebrate the start of the summer holidays. Organized by Michael Dudella and Petra von Thienen, the steering group's speakers, the event thrilled young and old and transformed the place into a center for fair trade and community interaction.
Despite bad weather conditions, the participation of many children was remarkable. A highlight of the day was the goal wall tournament, which was held in collaboration with SV Mering. The club provided the goal wall itself while the children played with fair footballs. Konrad Miserre, active player at SV Mering, acted as jury and helper.
Winners and rewards
Participants in the goal wall shooting had the opportunity to win high-quality fair trade footballs. As part of this event, Mayor Florian Mayer also presented a special FairPlay ball printed with the SVM club logo. This ball was a gift for the club's 100th anniversary and was symbolically presented to Georg Resch, the club's board member.
The member of the steering group, Markus Krause, took care of the physical well-being and offered regional and fair grilled specialties. The event could not take place without the support of local partners; A special thank you went to SV Mering for the goal wall, to the party service Acky Resch for drinks and equipment and to Jörg Häberle, who provided pavilions.
Commitment to fair trade
The Grill'n'Chill is one of many activities carried out in Fairtrade communities to promote fair trade. Fairtrade towns engage creatively by combining sport, culture and regional events. Campaigns such as supporting local restaurants or presenting fair products at weekly markets are just a few examples of the diverse opportunities for engagement.
These initiatives show how local communities can strengthen fair trade through lively and fun events. The focus is always on fun and social responsibility, which the Grill'n'Chill in Mering impressively demonstrated. The combination of sporting activity and fair trade culinary delights helps to raise awareness of sustainable products and bring the local community together.
