Important renovation: A3 near Wörth closed for two weekends!

The construction site work on the A3 motorway near Wörth a.d. Danube/Wiesent are in full swing. Junction 104a will be closed in both directions in the coming weeks due to necessary renovation work. These measures are part of a comprehensive initiative to stabilize and modernize the highway infrastructure, which is supported by the federal government.

As the city of Wörth reports, the first closure in the direction of Passau will be implemented from Friday, September 19, 2025, at 3 p.m. to Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. The second closure in the direction of Nuremberg will follow from Friday, October 10, 2025, at 3 p.m. to Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 5 p.m. However, during these times, State Highway St 2146 remains accessible.

Closure and diversion details

The diversion for the closure in September will be via the exit at the Rosenhof junction. Road users who want to travel towards Passau should use the U 69 and U 71 diversions to the Kirchroth junction. The driveway in the direction of Passau will only be possible via a U-turn at the Rosenhof junction.

A similar diversion applies to the closure in October: If you want to travel towards Nuremberg, you must also leave at the Kirchroth junction and take the U 30 and U 32 diversions before continuing to the Rosenhof junction. Driving in the blocked direction will not be possible.

Necessity of renovation work

The renovation work includes milling away the old asphalt layers and replacing them with new surface and binder layers. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of the motorway as cracks have been identified in the asphalt. A speed limit of 100 km/h in the construction site area will be introduced during the work to ensure the safety of construction workers and road users.

Behind the renovation of the A3 motorway is a larger initiative by the federal government to improve the motorway infrastructure. Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil announced that the funds from a new special fund for infrastructure and climate protection (SVIK) could soon be used. In total, extensive investments of up to 166 billion euros will be available by 2029 to modernize the transport infrastructure and secure existing jobs in the construction industry.

These sustainable investments in transport infrastructure are made possible by the approval of 1.1 billion euros for Autobahn GmbH. These financial resources are intended to support specific projects such as the renovation of roads and bridges on important transport axes, including the A3, in order to strengthen mobility in Germany.

The authorities ask all road users to understand the restrictions and recommend using the diversions in good time to avoid delays.
