Looking for a home: Two dogs and nine rabbits are waiting for you!

The city of Weiden i.d.OPf. has worked intensively on animal welfare in recent months and has taken in several hundred animals from difficult circumstances. This initiative was launched in July 2024 to provide animals with a better life. After most of the animals were successfully rehomed, two dogs and nine dwarf rabbits are now looking for a new home.

The two dogs, Waleska and Waletta, are mixed breed dogs of the Cane Corso breed. Despite the prejudices often associated with this breed, genetic testing has confirmed that they do not have increased traits of aggression. During their time in the city's care, the two proved to be extremely friendly and easy to get along with.

The search for a loving home

The city is now looking for experienced owners who can offer the dogs a loving home. It is important that the new owners have a garden and are prepared to offer the dogs enough exercise and activity. They should also have the patience to obtain a negative opinion with the dogs, which means that they must prove that the dogs do not pose a danger to others.

Waleska and Waletta are placed individually to give them the best possible acclimatization. Both dogs are neutered, vaccinated, chipped and have an EU passport. Current health examinations, including blood and stool results, are available.

In addition to the dogs, the city is also looking for new homes for nine male dwarf rabbits. These small animals come in different colors and should ideally be kept in pairs. Anyone interested should plan enough space and time for two or three rabbits.

There are no costs for the surrender of the animals, but it should be noted that in many municipalities a higher dog tax applies to the Cane Corso breed.
