New director Johannes Listewnik brings a breath of fresh air to the ceramics museum
The International Ceramics Museum (IKM) in Weiden has a new director, and the anticipation is palpable. Johannes Listewnik, an experienced art expert, takes responsibility for managing the museum. He studied at the universities of Leipzig and Nuremberg, where he studied German, art history and fine art. Before his new position, he was the director of a contemporary gallery in Leipzig, which gave him valuable experience in the art scene.
Listewnik has big plans for the IKM. He wants to make the museum a welcoming place where the beauty of ceramics is accessible to everyone. His approach is based on the belief that the fascination with aesthetics attracts people and makes them interested in the diverse aspects of ceramics. It aims not only to appeal to art lovers, but also to attract new target groups and introduce them to the fascinating world of ceramics.
Welcome to the IKM
The head of the cultural office, Sabine Guhl, expressed her enthusiasm about the new appointment: "I am very happy to have found such a competent new manager in Johannes Listewnik. He already convinced me with his ideas in the interview and I am sure that he will present the treasures that the IKM has to offer with passion and enthusiasm." This positive feedback shows that Listewnik made a good impression in the first phase of his work.
Andreas Holz, the head of the human resources and cultural department, is also optimistic: "Museums have to adapt to social, technological and cultural changes in order to remain interesting. Johannes Listewnik already brings several years of experience with him to Weiden. I wish him much success in his work as head of the IKM." This support from the city administration is a good sign for the future development of the museum.
The IKM is currently being redesigned. Under the direction of the New Collection Munich, the display cases on the upper floor are being stocked with new exhibits from the Bavarian partner museums. These new collection pieces will soon be on display in the newly designed rooms of the Ceramics Museum, further increasing anticipation for the upcoming exhibitions.
