Open Monument Day: Experience Tirschenreuth's history
Last Sunday, the city of Tirschenreuth experienced a special day that was all about history. As part of the “Open Monument Day”, three historical sites opened their doors to the public. The events were a huge success and attracted many visitors interested in local history.
One of the main attractions was the Alte Wagnerei, which only reopened this year after extensive renovation work. The former master carpenter Horst Schafferhans led the guests through his demonstrations and attracted many interested people. The atmosphere was lively and visitors were able to see first hand how craft traditions are kept alive.

The Tirschenreuth district court also offered an exciting opportunity to visit the fish farm. Here too, the response was great and many people took the opportunity to find out more about the legal and historical aspects of the building. The tour guide Cornelia Stahl complemented the program with two informative tours of the historic town hall. The participants were particularly enthusiastic about the history of the town hall and the newly renovated town hall hall.
In total, over 150 people took part in the tours, which underlines the great demand for such events. Mayor Franz Stahl was pleased with the positive feedback: “Our campaigns were very well received - and we will be happy to make it possible to visit Tirschenreuth monuments again next year.” The city plans to continue offering such events in the future to further promote interest in local history.
