New pastor Werner Sulzer takes up duty in Wackersdorf-Steinberg

The Wackersdorf-Steinberg am See parish community has a new pastor who is supposed to bring a breath of fresh air into the community. Pastor Werner Sulzer took up his duties at the beginning of September and was warmly welcomed in the town hall of the administrative community in the middle of the month. The mayors of the two municipalities welcomed him and gave him their best wishes for the challenges ahead in his new role.

Werner Sulzer, who comes from Erbendorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth, has had an interesting journey. He spent his school days in the St. Augustin study seminar in Weiden, where he was influenced by lively and creative church services. After graduating from high school and a year of social work, he decided to enter the seminary in Regensburg in 1987. Seven years later he was ordained a priest by Bishop Manfred Müller. He gained his first experiences as a chaplain in Waldmünchen and Amberg before taking over the parishes of Pondorf and Wolfsbuch. Most recently he worked in the Schmidmühlen parish for 14 years.

Official welcome and installation

The community welcomed Pastor Sulzer with open arms, which shows that the people hope for a positive cooperation. The official installation of the new pastor will take place on October 26th at 6:00 p.m. by Dean Michael Hirmer. One of Pastor Sulzer's main tasks will be to further expand and consolidate the parish community founded in 2023. This is particularly important as the community is still in its infancy and has a lot of potential to develop.

The expectations of the new pastor are high, and the community is looking forward to the impulses he will provide. Pastor Sulzer not only brings experience, but also a passion for pastoral care, which he has demonstrated in his previous positions. The coming months will show how he can shape and support the parish community.
